38. At least I am covered in the yard department
Yes, we have a yard on a large city lot but it is covered by mature trees. We have a small walmut tree growing through our bushes. We are trying to decide whether it can be planted anywhere in our yard where it won't be crowded out by the other trees. We moved in July and only had to mow twice because the grass doesn't grow very fast, having less light than open lawns. There is enough tree cover that our property qualifies under some definitions of forest.
Maybe that makes up for our above average sized house. I suppose not until we replace the windows and add solar panels though.

35. I'm guessing congrats are not PC at this juncture.
I dunno--if the man can afford it and wants it I'd think maybe it is nobody's decision to make except theirs (Edwards and his wife.)

You have to figure he was a trial lawyer (and pretty good at it by all accounts) so he probably made a pretty hefty income. I think the standard on a lot of those liability and malpractice cases is one third of it goes to the lawyers. It doesn't take too many multi-million dollar judgments to earn cash for a house that size.

I will remind you all, too, that those judgments are paid by insurance companies and corporations--NOT the poor schlubs that got HURT by these products and practices. Edwards' cash came from the people judged by the courts to be hurting the rest of us.

I dunno, I've been dealing with this whole "not a good enough Democrat" crap for too long locally to really care about this kind of stuff any more. I'm being called a "Bad Democrat" myself, in part, because I backed the wrong (read as winning) side on a Primary and in a General. I'm starting to get to the point, personally, where I just don't DEAL with the local party much any more because I figure I don't have to prove shit to anybody.

Maybe Edwards is in the same place.

Just my two cents.

36. Yes, Houses, Really. Wow. You think that land was not forest before..
It was cleared to make room for that manse? Look at the photo. All that land that is not trees now will be irrigated lawn. My guess, and this is probably on target by 80% is that the space will be a manicured executive course, or at least a couple of holes. So he's over his responsible water limit by my calcs by hundreds of thousands of gallons per year to maintain it, if not a that or just left to to be lawn. Is he restoring the clear cutting to meadow grasses for wildlife? This would not require irrigation.

That's just the water.

So yes it's the house. It's vulgar and over the top in a clear cut area of forest...of course he could of done this in the Amazon, and then we would have the "big deal" people upset.

40. And what does one have to do with another?
The ass wiping continues, helped in part by the homeowner who voted for the war to begin with.

My guess if he stood up for what was right in the first place about the war, he would not be in the position to meet with his architect to quibble over if the rec center would be best if he added 10,000 sf, of maybe his bedroom at 600 sf, would be big enough and not needing a public address system.

41. Details, details, Yes there are many sucessfull democrats, but.
they are not on the verge of crying while holding a shovel among perplexed New Orleans Katrina vitims of the current administration, braying about the poor, downtrodden, and unfortunates of our society, and apparently meeting at the same time to build a freakishly big home that with the details, may be energy star rated, but the question would be...is it LEED Certified.

I think not.

It seems that other Democrats have better timing, or have more sensitivity; or better advisors.
