If you haven't been following this, you should. Glenn Greenwald is, imho, together with Josh Marshall, doing some of the best "journalism" out there today. This piece from yesterday analyzes 3 minutes of the Chris Matthews sunday show re: the US Attorney firings. The guy from time says the dems are going to destroy themselves in their effort to "get" Rove and everyone else giggles at how stupid the scandal is.

For those of you who don't remember, this is, in many ways, how the media reacted to the Watergate burglery. Big deal, you can't pin it on Nixon they all said.

The sad part is reporters will all just say "they are shooting the messanger" which we are, but not because of the message because of a LACK of message.

Sometimes it's easier with all the info out there to gloss over pieces like Glenn's...I know I do sometimes...but when I spend the time to read it all I'm always glad I did. Just last weekend I got in a HUGE fight with 3 other lawyers over the scandal. They all said "its no big deal, Clinton did it, the dems will destroy themselves with all these investigations" Josh had provided me with much ammunition for that fight and now Glenn has given me more for round 2 set for Thursday with the same 3.

If they were pulling this $#&@ during Watergate, and they're still pulling it now, something needs to be done. People can't effectively govern themselves if they're lied to continually.

3. just read your thread on the idiot from Legal Times, and I saw that bit

of Tweety's show Sunday, and it completely FLOORED me, as well.

Every single person on the show agreed that what the dems are doing is just political theater, and will HURT them; that most Merkins are NOT interested in this. It was beyond amazing: it crystallized all that is rotten in the state of the M$M media, and how THEY are the ones, even more than the neokryptokleptofascists in charge of the current junta, who are responsible for what's happened over the last six years. Their willing, rabid participation in the Clinton Inquisition since 1991 set the stage for all that followed.

That's the republican spin and talking points because they desperately want all the investigations and future investigations to stop....They are being exposed daily and they hope they can stop the democrats with "the Dem's will destroy themselves with all these investigations" BULLSHIT!

The Democrat's will come away from each investigation stronger as a party and we stronger as a nation as we expose the filthy greedy republicans and their sick selfish exploitative ideology...if they back away that's what will hurt the Democratic party.

The republicans have to try and do something to stop all these necessary investigations and so they'll keep on pounding in the lie "the Dems will destroy themselves with all these investigations". Lying bastards!

The republicans investigated Clinton every chance they had about EVERY tiny little thing and it didn't hurt or bother them... and the republicans always came up empty handed (except about Clinton's personal life, when he lied about getting a blow-job from his girlfriend) they even investigated Clinton's Christmas card list.

Same old republican and right wing media tactic say it enough time and hopefully the Dems will get scared and hide, they have in the past...The lying slimy corrupt republican need to be exposed for the good of our country and our democracy!
