Toddler High On Cocaine At Church Preschool
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- An 18-month-old was treated for having cocaine in her system after a worker at her church preschool noticed the girl acting unusual, authorities said Wednesday.

The girl, who is not being named, was taken to the hospital by her parents after the worker at Promise Land Preschool at First Baptist Church of Mandarin, who is also related to the toddler, noticed she would not eat and was unsteady on her feet on Monday.

"When the mother picked the child up she was not as active as usual, walked only on her tip-toes and was bobbling and staggering," the report said. "The child would not eat or allow parents to examine her ears or head."

The girl was taken to Wolfson Children's Hospital for examination, where she tested positive for cocaine. Officials said she is expected to be fine.

The toddler's parents tested negative for cocaine, authorities said. The parents told authorities the girl was fine when she was dropped off at the school.

3. Very odd.
I wonder if mom got her powdered donuts before school or something like that?
If it was slipped into snacktime, more than one would have been affected.

8. That's a good guess.
Children put everything in their mouths.

Still..... I bet there's lots more to this story involving the parents and their home life!

13. Doesn't have to be.
But a pre-school lacing kids treats with cocaine is unheard of - while homes with grinding and awful drug problems is as common as April showers.

I'm just going with the averages.

19. But as someone says above: Maybe Uncle Louie isn't.
...or the parent's are now but weren't a year ago and the child found parts of that old life in a drawer etc. etc.

21. It seems like other kids would have been affected
I can't imagine any school deliberately giving kids drugs. I wonder if one of the teachers had it in a purse or something.

But my hunch is she didn't injest the coke at school.

Especially being as I'm in the journalism industry. If you're gonna tell stories, nothing beats Florida.
