9. Dictionary.com has it!
-noun
a secret dungeon with an opening only in the ceiling, as in certain old castles.

It's one of the roundest-sounding words I know. Positively mellifluous!

11. It comes from the French word "oublier", to forget
I was watching a game show yesterday. :P

They wanted to know the name of the word from the root. I guess they forgot people there. I remember learning oublier for French and I also thought it was really pretty.

13. Exactly! It also appears in the movie Labyrinth.
At one point the protagonist winds up in a tiny cell, which the villain--watching from afar--identifies as an oubliette.

The protagonist's guide tells her that's it's a place you put people you want to forget.

6. Singularly, no.
Lying, obfuscating, crooked, thieving, bigoted, hate-filled, cheating, stealing, idiotic, moronic, abusive, irresponsible, under-performing, manipulative hypocrites is more descriptive, though.

Or, assholes works too, but is demeaning to the body part that actually performs a beneficial function, which "they" do not. ;)

10. Well, since Steele wants to make the GOP a hip hop party, maybe he would say: hip-ocrites.
Not that they'll ever be hip to anything, though, so maybe hypocrites is best -- especially given their penchant for hype.
