Ya know why Republics distrust Gubmint?
'Cause they know what they do when they're in charge. Think Cunningham, Abramoff, KBR, Halliburton, Dusty Foggo, 9-11, Katrina...

Republic calls for small gubmint should probably be taken as pleas: "Stop me before I loot and pillage again!"

Like most psychopaths, they assume everyone else is as corrupt and self-serving as they are.

4. true, and most repubs I know distrust "gubmint" until they need it,
and then they are first in line for unemployment benefits, drug and alcohol treatment, benefits for special needs children, public schools, social security, disability, medicare, worker retraining, and on and on..

I personally know "world net daily" type republicans that are benefiting from everything I mentioned about, and really, I am glad our government can help them, I just wish they could make the connection good government and quality of life.

8. For a little while I was collecting government money for not planting corn
on a few acres. I thought it was a good deal until I found out I could have been making more money by not planting wheat. But I was locked in. They wouldn't let me switch from not planting corn to not planting wheat.

9. Wheat's where it is at for my friends
in Southern Kansas.
And every season they don't plant, the aquifer breathes a sigh of relief. As it were.

10. Well, if you're gonna make your living not planting things,
wheat is certainly one of the better crops to not plant.

5. I think it's a self fulfilling prophecy
In the sense that Republican voters don't expect much out of their elected officials, and their elected officials sink to those expectations.
