He's the epitome of cool. Actually, I think he's beyond cool. Watching him tonight, listening to him, I thought of listening to JFK - yeah, I am that old - and I realized I've never heard any political speaker like Obama in my life. Ever. The closest comparison I can make is Martin Luther King, Jr., who was also brilliant. A couple of times tonight, Obama's cadence was reminiscent of MLK, Jr.

That got me to thinking that he's some other kind of life form. Some prototype Super Human. I have never in my life seen anything like him.

are great assets for a politician in this country. (Well. most of the time - we did have a brain damaged chimp and Darth Vader running things for the last 8 years) Add vision, charisma, and reality-based thinking and you have a four star winner. That he's a good looking guy with a gorgeous family doesn't hurt him either.

TR, FDR, JFK, RFK, BHO. All of a piece. All appeal(ed) to our better angels and belief that the future can be a better place than the present. That just because things may be screwed up or unjust now that is no reason why those things cannot be worked through and that we can become a better people and a more just society as a result of having been tested and tried by hard times.
