3. You can't believe the number of people who aske me questions about what's going on because

I always have heard the story and what's behind it. I get AMOST all my info here at Du. Somebody always finds the most obscure things, andthe greatest part is that just posting something here isn't good enough. Every story has to be backed up by a link to a valid source! I've even gotten lucky a few times and found the story FIRST! It makde mefeel good, almost like a crack reporter.

If you were running a market research firm, wouldn't you want to know what makes online sites such as DU so popular/appealing - and then exploit those things?

I hope I am wrong, but how long do you think it will be before popular online sites like DU, etc. will be made an offer that they can't refuse?

CNN was purchased (and ruined) as a trustworthy source, for example. Don't think it isn't going on now.

You most likely don't know me, since I live mainly in the Lounge...

But when I saw your poll, I knew I had to respond!

For me, DU is a place for my voice to be heard, on whatever topic I choose...

I discovered the Lounge a month after I joined, and I have never looked back...

Many see it as frivolous, a place for puppies and kittens, and other silly things.

But I have used it for serious and non-political discussions......

And many have told me that my threads there have been sources of sanity and relief for them...

And that my photo threads have brought them joy....

These are the reasons I voted as I did.
