Palestinian doctor invents "artificial nose" able to "sniff" cancer in 92% of cases

A team of Israeli scientists announced a breakthrough invention, an "artificial nose" that was able to "sniff" cancer in 92% of cases. What was not widely reported is that the lead doctor, Hossam Haick, is a Christian Arab from Nazareth.

Dr. Hossam Haick of the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology has been named by Technology Review as one of the world's 35 top young scientists.

Already the recipient of several prestigious awards and grants, Dr. Haick has garnered broad international recognition for leading the development of an "electronic nose," a device consisting of nano-sized sensors that can detect cancer in a person's breath, which could greatly improve survival rates via critical early diagnoses.

"The preliminary results of this device indicate that it currently detects breast, colon and lung cancer. We hope that in the future it will be a routine screening for all cancers, thereby guaranteeing early treatment," said Dr. Haick. http://www.azonano.com/news.asp?newsID=7227

2. If he has to travel from a home in Nazareth to his job in Haifa the entire project will end
There is no way he can be living in the West Bank and keep a job in Haifa where the university is, under the current conditions in the West Bank.
