I hope Webb and his aide challenge the constitutionality of this arrest.

1. Webb fiasco???
What, you mean a member of the democratic party actually carries a gun?

Do you think the aide making the mistake and not knowing the law means that Webb was complicent?

Webb fiasco - where do you get your talking points?

14. No, this is not critical thinking
this is just posting the language of the anti-dem crowd - the Webb fiasco - that is judging it as bad and not posting any of the facts.

Not a good way for a newbie to make an impression.

It could be a fiasco. It's at least a crime.

31. it's allegedly a crime
innocent until proven guilty and all that jazz

Whether or not it could be a fiasco is quite different than it being right now a FIASCO.

good or bad.

The impression your OP makes is what should concern you - using the talking points of the anti-dem crowd is something you should try to avoid.

37. Dude ... the news story was 30 minutes old
There were no RW talking points to copy, and if there were it would range on the level of saying Sen. Webb committed an illegal act, which I don't believe is true.

The truth, on the other hand, are not RW talking points and to claim such only hurts our cause.

a death or the abuse or violation of a child as a fiasco is using a right wing talking point. If you care about "our cause" you won't overact to every occurence that involves a dem.

6. .
The last articles I read on DU concerning this story, they didn't mention that it was Webb's gun. Was it really Webb's gun that he gave to an aide?
Anyway, I don't think that this story will hurt him and I think the officials will realize pretty fast that the aide was no danger.

What do you mean? I don't know what the aide was thinking, maybe he just forgot that he carried a gun.
I'm not an American so I don't know about the laws in Washington or about the consequences for the aide. Still, I understand that bringing a gun into the Senate is not allowed.

The aide forgot it was in the briefcase and took it to Capital Hill.

Thats a little different than asking the aide to carry a gun into the building.

How do you forget you've got a gun??

The U.S. Court of Appeals certainly thought the NRA had a point at least on the DC firearm prohibition.

7. An aide was arrested
for trying to take a gun and 2 loaded clips into the Senate office building. As if DC law has spit to do with any person with a brain knowing that guns don't belong in the Senate office building. What with billions being spent on the supposed terrorist threat and all.

I don't blame Webb for this one bit, btw.

16. Not that I particularly care but Webb asked the aide to
carry the gun. Only Senators and Reps are allowed to carry on the Hill. Rather strange.

25. You should get the license
Having the license expands your choices, which is inherently good. You don't have to carry a gun if you don't want to.
