*Warning* To People Who Have Bank Of America Credit Cards
Just rec'd statement and noticed that the window for their address is on the upper left side of the envelope right beneath the return address. The problem...when the machine at the post office reads the envelope, with the two zip codes (yours and theirs) so close, it is as likely to read yours as theirs and your letter will arrive back in your mail box. Resending it will likely make your payment late and you will incur penalties and a possible rate hike. Put your return address on the flap on the back of the envelope. I had this problem sending in my rent check and the man at the post office explained why it happened.

Got fed up with BofA and their poor support for consumer credit cards

Got a credit card from another bank

That bank was them acquired by BofA

Damn, you just can't win

2. Bank of America continues to amaze.
Is it any wonder they're in such bad shape? Designing a payment envelope shouldn't be such a tough process, but apparently they can't even get that right.

Why am I not surprised?

I forgot who it was, but one company sent out payment coupons that were too big to fit in the envelopes they sent to mail payments back in! Brilliant, I tell you, brilliant! :eyes:

11. Absolutely
Banks make enormous fees on late payments, plus that gives them (and any other creditor constantly monitoring your credit rating) an excuse to jack your rates.

I have a BoA card, got zero percent interest from them for a year (ending in May) and it's my goal to pay them off as fast as absolutely possible.

13. Once they bought MBNA they stuff it full off all the coupons and offers
in and on the envelope. They recently changed processing centers from Baltimore to Dallas this month.

6. Bank of America: By keeping one of my accounts there, I know I'm screwing myself.
Without talking to me about it, they began to charge me six dollars a month every time my balance drops beneath a thousand dollars.

But this account is just a cash account to pay for things like groceries and have some quick way to get ahold of cash. It's not my primary account.

Bank of America used to be respectable. My father used to work for BofA, and my mentor used to be very high up in the management of this bank, but things have changed.

This is a bank in danger of collapse now.

8. do everything online
After USPS lost a couple of my checks, I do everything I can online now. The late fees just aren't worth the drama of wondering if my checks get there in time to be processed before their deadline.

Don't like BofA much, but when they bought MBNA I went too. I do like the "SafeShop" feature where I can create ccards as needed to buy stuff online and limit exposure of my real ccard number.

9. This is my wifes bank. I don't think there are any goods ones left though.
I always pay online though.

I think the real gimmick was when I just moved back into the area and I was offered a credit card (this was in September at the start of the 'collapse'). I had no job and next to no money, my wife also had no job. I came to find out that they charge their annual fee in the month the account was opened, so they billed me 60 dollars for a card I had yet to even activate.

In the end I needed to activate it to have enough money for groceries and other essentials, so I don't mind getting bilked for the 60 dollars too badly. But it was a tad dishonest of them. Oh and I'm back on my feet now and that account has been zeroed out and I'm debating closing it.

and only credited it back after a serious argument.

Credit Unions

I've been with one for 35 years
and can't imagine ever using a "for profit" bank
for anything?

And I also wonder if the location of the addresses on the BOA form is "accidentally on purpose."

18. Why play games with these evil vultures?
Cut up the card, pay it off and get the hell out of this abusive relationship.

These card companies are desperate now. They'll do anything to trip you up and make your payment late.

These people are not your friends. You are dollar signs to them and they'll do anything to get more
out of you.

Having a credit card with a company like this, is like being in an abusive relationship.

End the relationship and take your power back.

23. How clever of them. Any more little cuties they can think to do?
I had MBNA for years and never had a problem. At that time I was able to pay off my whole balance most of the time. My life has changed very dramatically as did MBNA. I can no longer pay in full, I'm just paying it off.

With the credit card now B of A, I get more junk plus I fear one of these days, they will up my interest rate (now 11.25%). Since my income is now so low, I juggle everything but they get their check first. I did notice the envelope change, I hope my check does not come back.
Having gone from 2 SS checks a month plus my pay, down to 1 SS check and unemployment(for a little while longer), I can't stretch things any more.
I'd love to pay this card off and my late husbands too but with credit so hard to come by and me now without a job, thats not going to happen.

Every day another thing to stew about. We are-and I think justified-becoming a nation of complainers. No matter what we do, there seems to be a negative backlash. We are the ones to get hit every time.

I hope President Obama has all 4 burners on high right now, we need him so badly. I cannot express how much sympathy I have for that man. I'd bet my last dollar he has found things far worse than he could have imagined in his worst nightmare.
