Dick Cheney Loves Him Some Skim Latte

By Mary Ann Akers / Washington Post

We've found one of Dick Cheney's new undisclosed locations: the Starbucks on Chain Bridge Road in McLean, Va.

And while he may be dwelling on the "tough, mean, dirty, nasty business" of being vice president and protecting the nation's security, Cheney is just a regular guy at his new not-so-super-secret location.

He has been there a couple of times, according to employees at the coffee shop who, perhaps still fearful of the powerful and notoriously secretive vice president, asked that we not use their names.

Cheney's drink of choice, they told us, is skim latte. (Lynne Cheney no doubt will be pleased to hear the hubby is taking care of that troublesome heart when she's not around to remind him.)

One Starbucks employee says the most remarkable thing about one of Cheney's recent visits, just last week, was that he had no security in tow - at least none that were conspicuous. But other times his security detail has been noticeable, another coffee shop worker tells us. "It's hit or miss," he says. ........(more)

1. OK, I'll avoid the Starbuck's on Chain Bridge Road in McLean.
But I'll still go to my local.

2. I was thinking the same thing
Just because Cheney goes to one doesn't mean that Starbucks is using Cheney as an endorsement.

Back in 1992, Pizza Hut hired Rush Limbaugh as a national spokesperson for their chain. I haven't eaten at a Pizza Hut since then. But there is no endorsement here with Starbucks - just Cheney visiting a local one.

3. The poster edited the subject line, so my response doesn't make as much sense.
Originally it said, "Another reason the avoid Starbucks".

4. I didn't mean to imply that's a reason to avoid Starbucks, so I changed the headline.....
..... the crappy over-roasted dirt water that passes as coffee is a bigger reason to avoid it.

7. I like the food. I take it home and make my own coffee.

Around here there aren't too many places to get something half-way healthful in the morning. My local has nice low fat pastries, fruit plates, coffee cakes, etc. A better alternative than donuts and sausage rolls and fast-foot junk.
