even though he gets things right (once in a blue moon) on foreign policy/the drug war....those DUers who support Ron Paul are supporting a racist, anti-choice, anti-labor, homophobe. There's no getting around that.

And you can get all cute, and you can call him "Dr. Paul" like his moronic fanbois do....but if any of you actually cared to look at his record instead of his silly floor speeches you'd realize he's not all of what he's cracked up to be.

1. I agree, and Rec'd you. But, he is a doctor, so they can call him Dr. Paul if they want.

2. There's a big difference between supporting a message and supporting
the messenger. Discounting an idea because someone on the other side supports it is being the worst sort of knee jerk reactionary.

14. I'm confused.
Are you saying some liberals are supporting the war because Paul opposed it, or is there some recent thing that people are opposing JUST because Paul supported it? Or is this about something else?

3. He's also a shitty Congressman...
Edited on Mon Feb-16-09 01:34 PM by JeffreyWilliamson
I know because he's my shitty Congressman.

He voted against emergency funds for the Hurricane Ike recovery effort even though his own district was destroyed by the storm. He then went on to run unopposed for re-election in November.

A lot of people around here are pretty pissed that he still has a job.

9. Yeah, I used to live in his district. His campaigns were disgusting.
"I'm leary of Loy Sneary?" Dude couldn't say what he stood for, only mocked other people for their names. Not a character I like.

8. Galveston is in Ron Paul's district
Edited on Mon Feb-16-09 01:38 PM by Gman
think he's lifted even a pinkie finger to try to help anyone at all after hurricane Ike? Hell no. Paul has even defended his lack of involvement in the misery of Galveston by saying everyone votes him back in knowing what he thinks. He said last fall they can vote him out if they don't agree. Paul got real lucky that he didn't have a Democrat last November. I think there's a congressional seat on the Texas Gulf coast that's going blue next year. It could be a yellow dog running against Paul as a Democrat and it would get bipartisan support.

13. Don't worry, few people at DU
are too polite to point out all those drawbacks.

Paul is a stopped clock, right twice a day but wrong most of the time.

16. Lots of Democrats are anti-Labor (Larry Summers, Jason Furman, e.g.)
most Democrats support the racist War on Drugs and War on Terror, too.
