Just found this tidbit about Katie in a bio:

Her husband, lawyer and NBC legal analyst Jay Monahan, died in 1998 after battling colon cancer for eight months.

She did not drop everything, quit her job, and velcro herself to him while he was still alive?
She took time off from her job, only AFTER he died? Sounds kind of selfish
