Smart people learn by reading.
Average people learn by observing what happens to others.

Republicans just gotta go and pee on the electric fence for themselves.

7. That would be the peeing on the fence
thingie. Thinking you can go do something without reading or listening to anybody else.

4. And once is never enough!
They keep coming back to that fence expecting that no matter how many times their weenies get fried, eventually their pee will turn to gold.

12. I've always disagreed with that statement....
A lotta people learn bad habits doing the "trial and error" method.

I think a combination of reading and experience is the best.

Oh... and LOTS and LOTS of practice.

8. I invite them to come and experiment on our
electric fence! It's almost a mile long, and I've read on some gardeners' blogs that human urine keeps deer away.

Although, come to think of it, do I want the side hill cluttered up with screaming Republicans?

9. Right. And it does specify
HUMAN urine.

I think that's bullshit, though. About the urine, I mean. I mean, some hunters take along--uh--receptacles into their deer stands, and others just kinda pee here and there, and I don't know of any differential success rates between the two groups.

11. Jackpine, before we put up our electric fence
fence I was researching everything I could find on deer repellents because I hated to think how MUCH of a fence we would have to build. We have a 2 1/2 acre garden besides the two orchards, see.

I ended up doing a piece for my garden website on all the things I read that that would repel deer, a pretty funny page, if I do say it myself, and one of the things was to invite one's male dinner guests to go out after dinner to relieve themselves along the garden perimeter.

We didn't try that, but we did try noisemakers, virtual dog barking machines, lion urine that my daughter coming home from the library could smell inside her car with the windows closed as she came up the drive, and finally faced the inevitable -- an 8-ft electrical fence.

Incidentally, Jackpine, I enjoy your posts. Also your user name.
