This really stinks. Why can't it wait till Monday? Or even call everybody in on Sunday to just have they vote. I wonder how much Rethug crap is hidden in the bill. This is WRONG!!!

3. As if
any normal citizen would be able to make heads or tails out of a marked-up bill.

Jeez, I had to take a whole course in Legislative Drafting in law school just to begin to grasp how the process works. It would be interesting to see what citizens unschooled in the art would make of a bill not yet finalized.

It's a lot like sausage-making, and, interestingly enough, the real substance of what goes into the final product is never easy to find.

5. Well you see, that's the beauty of having it posted for ALL to see...
I don't have to depend on my own meager and totally insufficient skills. The strength of the internet.

7. Correct. And it takes a day or so for the information to be sifted out.
What are they hiding?!

15. Oh well. Don't let their promise of 48 hours get in the way then.
And I bet that it will eventually come out that the Rethugs have something hidden in there. Just wait for it.

12. I agree
It would be interesting. People would be flummoxed by what they saw, but I'd demand that a "Comments" section be mandatory.

Now, THAT would be worth reading.

6. Also, wasn't the 48-hour posting limited to non-emergency legislation?
Edited on Fri Feb-13-09 11:52 AM by eyesroll
From the conference report:

"The conference agreement designates amounts in the Act as emergency r
requirements pursuant to section 204(a) of S. Co~s. 21 (11 Oth C~~_gres~.~~~.~£!!.2!!_~..Jt~
30I(b)(2) ofS. Con. Res. 70 (llOth Congress), the concurrent resolutions on the budget
for fiscal years 2008 and 2009. All applicable provisions in the Act are designated as an
emergency for purposes of pay-as-you-go principles."

(excuse the garbage characters--this seems to be an OCR-scanned document)
