8. They want some socialism, then I'll give 'em some socialism
Straight from the mainstream of Socialism:

http://www.dsausa.org/pdf/economic_recovery_view.pdf (PDF)

Unfortunately the actual recovery plan doesn't look like the DSA's proposed plan.

Am I supposed to say, "thank god! I couldn't deal with that much economic fairness"??

9. Socialism: Caring About Our Fellow Human Beings.
The right wing has successfully turned the word "socialist" into a dirty word, but socialism is simply the biblical admonishment that "We are our brother's keeper" on a larger scale. We need to care for each other, which means insuring that everyone has enough to eat, a roof over their head, access to health care and the dignity of a decent paying job.

The U.S. is the wealthiest country in the world, yet now many people are homeless and hungry. We need to take the enormous profits that are now going to the tiny few of the rich elite and put at least a portion of that insuring that everyone has a home, a full belly and access to education and the dignity of a job. The vast wealth that less than one per cent of our population now enjoys came from the hard work of the millions of people who did the work to create that wealth.

It is time to bury the pejorative slurs against socialism and work to create a society which puts improving the human lives of all citizens before increasing the financial profits of the lucky few.

12. USA is composed of a lot of individuals
Edited on Tue Feb-10-09 09:46 PM by Oak2004
the majority of whom have little power, and a substantial number of whom are suffering.

The USA does deserve socialism.

That said, Obama won't give us socialism. We have to demand it.

MadBadger

If he things the Administration of mr Obama are socialism witht the big S. Then he should came over here to wisit Sweden Norway, Denmark, Icland or Finland, where every single party, regardness of their party collour have been in agreement since the end of ww2 that the government should have a fair share of the power to control the capital..

And we have managed pretty well, compared to many other parts of the world, where the free marked ideology have been the norm...

On the other hand, if he was to wisit a country outside of US of A, he might discover that the population there is rather educated, and he will also discover that the type of hate radio he have is nowere existing. Becouse for the most part we just don't want to listning to this type of hate and stupidity..

And yes, we have our share of stupidity here too.. But types like Hannity, and Co,would never surive long in our neck of the world.. Not on TV, and not on Radio... They might have a hour or two on the radio, before they would be trown out of studio, with a verry clear telling that they are NOT welcome back anytime soon..
