KICK & REC. IF YOU THINK... arnghhh!! Give me, please, a break!!!
I was really hoping that, once the election was over, all those enthusiastic "Kick and Recommend if you think that..." threads would
fall by the wayside. But that hasn't happened.

Am I the only one who finds the prevalence of these threads increasingly annoying?

We *know* what K&R stands for. The reason this system exists is so that, when we read an OP that is well stated, well reasoned,
contains important information or entertains, we can make it possible for others to read it by kicking and recommending it.
We do not need to be told. It comes with the territory.

So how about this? Make the OP interesting/informative/unique/funny enough so that it stands on its own merit, without telling us what to do.
Believe me - we can figure it out!

Thanks in advance.

P.S. Please K&R if you agree with me

7. "Thanks in advance" is like "Kick & Rec" SQUARED on the "ANNOYING SCALE."

Seriously...I read a study recently...sorry, no link... ...but the study was conducted among adults, aged 24-56, and they were asked "What do you find most annoying on the Internets...people who post thread titles that say "Kick & Rec if..." or people who post rants and end them with "Thanks in advance?"

The overwhelming number of respondents (98% out of 27,500 questioned) chose "Dear GOD, how can you even ASK the question, the only thing worse than people thanking me in ADVANCE is when they talk about someone being OWNED, and the only thing worse than THAT is when they say someone has been PWNED, but now that I think of it, maybe the thanks in advance thing IS the worst. Yeah, it is. Let's go with that one."

Hey, don't shoot the messenger...I'm not making this stuff up. It was in a poll. A scientific poll. Conducted by adults. Really.

12. You, Amerigo Vespucci, have got to stop poking me with your spiny little branch
of an arm. I'm getting an ear-ache.

Thanks in advance for stopping.
You're a gentleman and a scholar.

9. I couldn't disagree with you more - sheesh! Why would that bother you?
People (including me) often read GREAT posts and forget to K&R them. I appreciate it when they mention it.
