I'm sorry, but I get a *huge* kick out of reading Free Republic.

I start my morning web survey with CNN, then on to Talking Points Memo, then Crooks & Liars, and finally DU (I save the best for last). It usually takes me an hour or more to read through all the new stuff. I feel pride as I read about Obama and the Dems and disgust as I read about the latest slime and malfeasance from the Limbaugh-Palin Party.

But there's one thing missing. I never laugh, or even crack a smile, as I read all this info. Afterwards, if there's time, I turn to Free Republic, as I did this morning. Some of the crap there is hysterically funny to me! Giggles, guffaws, snorts, coffee spraying - the works. At this point, my sides ache from laughing out loud. (Coughing fits are also a problem.) It feels great!

This morning's crop of crap is especially rich, if you're interested. For example, there is this thread advocating armed revolt (not itself funny) and the arrest of the man they call "Soetoro". (Here's where the laughs come in.) Many of the posters refer to Obama as "Soetoro", or various misspellings of this imaginary name. I laughed repeatedly as I read this thread.

And how about this thread, about the greater number of people identifying themselves as Democrats compared to Limbaugh-Palinites? This post was a chuckler for me:

Agree. Two years of Democrat spending going down the sinkhole, a crashing stock market (see Harry Dent Jr.) and 2010 will be a banner year for the GOP. Remember 1994? Well 2010 will be a repeat. And Rush will have a lot to do with it, just like in '94.

Many people here on DU say they would never visit FR, they would need a shower, etc., etc. Well OK, but you are really missing a treat. And a lot of belly laughs!

2. It's Funnier Now Than It Used To Be...

A decade ago when I first started playing around with political message boards, there was no DU or TPM or DKos...only Freeperland and other similar sites. It was the height of the Clenis frenzy that then turned into boooosh frenzy...those people had become insufferable and what was worse...they were winning and stealing elections. The darkest was in 2002...any liberal or progressive viewpoint was stomped on as being a "traitor". We've come a long way since then...they haven't.

The old saying goes keep your loved ones close and your enemies closer. I admit that now and then I get a kick out of reading the pyschobabble there and feel the frustration many there must be feeling. Yeah, it's schadenfraude...so what!!

Fling cheetos and boogers? The image of a FR brigade battalion company platoon en convoy with 100 portapotties and a 1957 Nash Rambler as the command car storming DC is just too hilarious. Rimjob's Commodore's up-time would be about two minutes at a time from the strain of trying to keep all 30 miscreants on the same course and not cleaning out every 7-11 along the way for Cheetos and Pepsi. I can just imagine the Secret Service now... "Oh, please. Now, y'all just run along back to your basements before we call your mamas and they tan your asses with a hairbrush!"
