"Chocolate Ice Cream with White and Dark Chocolatey (?) Chunks, Pecans, Walnuts, and Chocolatey (?) Covered Almonds".

So...

Chocolate
Chocolate
Chocolate
Pecans
Walnuts
Almonds.

So pecans are at best, what? 1/6th the recipe?

And what the hell is Chocolatey?

83. Real chocolate is too hard to serve in ice cream;
it's like rocks when frozen. To make the texture right, they probably loosen up real chocolate with liquid vegetable oil. I don't know their recipe, but that's how it's usually done. Once you replace cocoa butter with any other oil, the product no longer meets the legal definition of "chocolate": hence, "chocolaty."

Doesn't mean it's not delicious. All their other flavors are.

Edited on Sat Jan-31-09 12:37 PM by Chovexani
Peanuts are legumes, not nuts. What you dismiss as a technicality contributes to a lot of misinformation about food allergies. It's also the difference, for me, between dying from anaphylactic shock and nomming on some Reese's at my desk. Your kid was unlucky enough to draw both straws but that doesn't mean there is a correlation between the two.

I've had a severe tree nut allergy for my entire life, and have never had a single issue with a peanut product.

Sorry, this is a huge peeve of mine.

62. Actually I agree

I spent the first 75% of my life in Vermont, and now live in NH, and a relative of mine was global marketing manager for B&J, but I have to say I agree. I love Mint Oreo Cookie (or, actually, it's called Mint Chocolate Cookie now since the Oreo company, whatever that is (Keebler?)) sued them, and Pistachio, and on rare occasions Cherry Garcia, but the majority of them are too gloppy and sugary for me.

That said, I wish I had $100 to buy a share of stock when they were advertising it on the bottom of their lids in the mid-80's.

Ben Cohen has been very generous to my brother, due to a serious medical issue my brother encountered, at least in terms of his (Ben's) time. They don't really "own" the company any more, but they're very giving. I don't want to be too critical. They've done a lot for Vermonters and people in general.

If I want to chew a lot I'll eat salad!
Ice cream used to be about "cream and flavor" not chunks!

watching Canadian tv and they were interviewing people who were excited about our new Prez. One was a pub owner who named a brew Obama Black Ale in honor of our CIC.:patriot::party::beer::patriot:

59. Oh, I love it!
Don't know if I would buy it, because I'm not big on nuts, but I do love the concept. Then again there seems to be enough chocolate in the mix to offset the nuts, so maybe I'll give it a try. :)

60. My wife said it would have been better if it was carmel flavored ice cream
or vanilla. Too much chocolate you won't really taste the other items.

This was a serious decade of horrible things to choose from Abu Grape, Chock 'n Awe, RockyRoad to Fascism.

I think I'm leaning towards "Good Riddance You Lousy Motherfucker... Swirl" too

And that ice cream flavor sounds yummy. My favorite: chocolate with things in it.

92. And where did B&J LEARN to make ice cream? Penn State!
They took an extension course from PSU - you can look it up!

Ben & Jerry's is an adequate substitute, I guess, when Happy Valley isn't accessible....

(I blame my current lactose intolerance on 4 years of overreliance on The Penn State Creamery - the cafeteria food was unbearably bad, but I survived on the Creamery's amazing fresh milk, cottage cheese and ice cream)
