Local Company Praised By Obama Forced To Cut Jobs (OH)
A local company (Cardinal Fastener) visited by Obama days before his inauguration is forced to lay off workers because of dramatically reduced orders.

The bloodshed just isn't stopping here in Ohio.

1. There is really just no end in sight .
I anyone remembers the old eight ball where you made a wish and turned it over and got an answer such as very un-likely then this is what we have now only in place of the few repetitive answers it will be company names with a big red X through them. Or something the same as the old eight ball where you ask if your job will be there tomarrow but are pertified to look at the answer.

There is no need for a terrorist attack in this country. this is as bad waiting and wondering when or if.

5. Out of curiosity's sake....
Why the cutbacks at Caterpillar and John Deere if we're expecting this massive infrastructure program?

6. Inventory is way up because of the crash in construction
Companies have so much inventory they have to cut back. All companies are seeing this. Our manufacturing operations are cutting back to 4 day work weeks to avoid laying off people all because sales are so low and the inventory is stacked to the ceiling.

8. So true.
Here's a picture from last November showing a construction company auctioning off heavy equipment:

And here is the story, where it came from: http://www.latimes.com/business/printedition/la-fi-auction20-2008nov20,0,6058226.story

3. It sure does seem like some states have been hit especially hard.
I can't help but think about my GF's boss (a dentist) a few months ago talking about how the economy is only bad "depending on what side of the fence you're sitting on".

The best part is that HE left the wedding reception we were at (it was for one of his employees) early because he was so pissed at me. He actually bitched to people at work saying that I was an incredible jerk. This from the guy who said he didn't care that millions of lazy people (his words) don't have health-care because as he said "I get paid either way".

I had statistics and facts to support my arguments, and when I asked him if he had any he dismissed me with something like "I don't have time to spend all day looking up statistics".

9. Ah geez, I'm sorry dude...
He gets paid either way.... well you know, he has his own fears.... if a national healthcare is developed... he won' be getting those insurance payments anymore... he will have to find another way of getting paid for cleaning our teeth..,,, sometimes he may not get paid... (please note I have no idea how Dental will play in the healthcare plan).

So now about this Company... and endless others.... HOW is this recovery plan helping out this company and their employees? How is it helping you and me? You know what.... 60 PERCENT of the businesses in this country are SMALL business, I personally think that the big corporations are making themselves look bad to shut down the small businesses across this country. Plain and simple... the big guy ain't going to be happy until they have 100% of business control in this country.

I am rattling again... so sorry.

Obama says his 'first job' is to 'put people back to work

"The way I see it, the first job of my administration is to put people back to work and get our economy moving again," President-elect Barack Obama just told workers at Cardinal Fastener & Specialty Co. in Bedford Heights, Ohio.

A copy of his speech, as prepared for delivery, is posted here.

As USA TODAY reported this morning, Obama's trip is part of "an extraordinary new effort to motivate and mobilize millions of citizen-lobbyists to promote his vast agenda."

7. basically, it appears that every business is going to either go outta business or cut 15-20% of it's
staff. Now, obviously, it's going to be mostly companies cutting jobs (hopefully) and not going out of business, but that is going to be like 20 million more out of work!

Sigh...

We need this infusion from the bill being argued in Congress!
