Pelosi's full quote on contraception and family planning
"The family planning services reduce cost. The states are in terrible fiscal budget crises now and part of what we do for children's health, education and some of those elements are to help the states meet their financial needs.

"One of those - one of the initiatives you mentioned, the contraception, will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government,"

1. I sure hope she wins this one.
This AM I heard that as part of the compromise with repukes, President Obama had requested Rep. Wexler to remove the apportionment for birth control from the Medicaid part of the stimulus package.
I hope that does not happen.
Compromising with repukes is seen by them as capitulation.

2. When do the 'pukes start compromising?

And why is Obama willing to throw reproductive assistance under the bus to placate the Reich-in-exile?

3. He's willing to throw family planning under the bus...
...because it's a messy wimmin's issue that doesn't have nice neat edges the way fancy military hardware and highways and the like do. Because it's a wedge issue that the right have capitalized on for years, tying it in with abortion and morality. Because women these days are not as activist on their own behalf as they were 30 years ago. Because he still thinks he can be "bipartisan" with these yahoos by "compromising" (i.e., giving in on a matter that should have been kept as a bedrock principle in our party). Because he's falling right into line with the Democrats as Charlie Brown to their Lucy...

Makes me so furious I'd like to take a stick to the whole lot of 'em and beat 'em around the head and shoulders.
