I walked into an atheist store yesterday
was a new, small bookstore where I was looking for a gift for a college friend who was getting married in Vermont next week. There was an item without a price tag and I asked the man who was there how much it cost. He replied, "All our prices are fair. We do not believe in God here."

Realizing he was serious, I asked in an innocent tone, "You mean you only sell to people who don't believe in God?"

"Oh, no," he replied. "Our business is an Atheist business."

"Does that mean you only employ Atheists?" asked I.

He shook his head. "No, actually I am the the only employee but I am an atheist."

I courteously explained to him that I was not looking for a a religious or non-religious gift anyway and continued to brows his small shop. There was one section of the sore devoted to what a selection of books focused on Darwinism, evolution and the Big Bang. There was another section with books about progressive politics. I picked on up and started to read the back cover I notices him staring intently at me , as though he expected me to slip the book into my coat when he was not looking. I picked up another book which actually looked kind of interesting but it did not have a price on it....

I walked up the counter and asked him what the price was....he then barked at me that is would be a fair price unless I was a christian.... then there is a sucharge....Oh I said how much is that? $35,225.15 he said with a smirk on his face. "Gee that is an awfully steep surcharge. Why so much?" He just glowered at me.

Sensing this was not really a pleasant shop after all.. I decided to put the book back on the shelf and move on.

As I left the shop it suddenly dawned on me that I was wearing a ball cap that said "Have a blessed day"..... and suddenly things became clearer.

4. Yah, but then I think the pronoun "guy" has an unclear antecedant.

2. As a fellow atheist I'd be likely to tell him to get stuffed
If that was his attitude to customers.
He doesn't deserve custom.

3. Sounds like a story a 700 club freeper would believe in
Wonderful beautiful christian being put upon by a nasty horrible non-believer.

11. Ahhh
"I see," said the blind man.

I thought it was kind of an odd story. Interesting but odd!

12. Locking.
I believe the point has been made.

I would prefer that the religion wars remain in the Religion forum.
