Is Wolf Blitzer disrespecting President Obama?
I was sent an email asking me to send an email to Wolf Blitzer and demand that he stop calling President Obama, Barack Obama. He never called President Bush, George Bush. I have haven't seen the news this week and have not seen this for myself. If anyone has a video link this week of him doing it, could you please post it. I tried looking for one on CNN but cannot seem to find any from the situation room. Wolf's email address is wolf.blitzer@turner.com. If he is doing this, please send him an email and ask him to show some respect.

1. No
Media often drop the honorific. Most editorials also refer to presidents as "Mr." as well.

4. I think you're being a bit paranoid
Watch for a while, you will see both of them use/not use the honorific.

3. I'm not sure that's true. I'm sure I've hears him and manyothers call the former prez. George Bush.
Maybe never just George, but the complete name. Son't you think we're getting too touchy with this? I'm pretty tired of political correctness, and this seems to fall into that catagory.

5. Ever notice
that all the Presidential contenders were called by their last names, or their full names.

But she was always Hillary.

I was always for Obama, but that Hillary thing pisses me off.

I wonder if they'll still call her by her first name now that she's Secretary of State?

I'll be watching.......................................

11. He wasn't running
No, sorry, that's not possible. Discussions of primaries involved Bill Clinton, sure, but then he would have been "Bill Clinton." He sure wouldn't have been "Bill."

She was, though, always "Hillary."

I'm as far from PC as can be. This isn't a PC issue. It's an issue of simple, unthinking paternalism.

12. I noticed it too. And you are probably right to smell that sexist rat...but it did
occur to me that there may be a legitimate reason in some cases. I bet a full 1/3 of the country didn't know who was running. There are some real idiots out there...

13. They voted for McPOW/Palin
So they weren't listening to the coverage. But, I'm sure they refer to her as "Hillary," too.

I learned in my life as a lawyer exactly how stupid people can be. That's why I had a sign made for my law firm's galley (clients were not allowed in there) which read: "Stupidity has been very good to us."

8. It wouldn't bother me unless he didn't do the same with bush.
I've heard a lot of newstalkers use "President Obama" the last few days and while I really like that, unless this is a consistent thing with Obama and wasn't with bush, I wouldn't read too much into it. Except that Leslie is a stupid corporate tool. That always matters.

9. I heard the rule is, first time you mention the president, you say "President so and so"
then the rest of the time you say "Mr. so and so"

Don't know who came up with this rule, but that's it.
