You know what, we need to stop joking about Haggard.
I think it hit me when I saw him open a U-Haul, with their family's stuff in it. I think these fundies that fucked this guy up are so horrible, this poor human being. It just looks so painful, and I feel so bad for him and his family.

6. I'm saying this as someone who is gay.

I think is less about hypocrisy anymore, and more about the titillating nature of the allegations.

This isn't hurting a single man, but a whole family.

3. I don't care who fucks who. It's the hypocrisy, and the environment that feeds it.
I'm so sad. One day Rick Warren will be 'outed'. I do not doubt it whatsoever. Why can't these small-minded people understand that love is love? Homosexuality is no more deviant than heterosexuality. Both have been around since the beginning of humankind. Why can't they just come out and say it. What is so shameful that they have to demonize others for the very thing they're doing behind closed doors?

8. He was living a very nice lifestyle while he was
denouncing gay people and everything and everyone else those fundies denounce. I don't care if he is gay. It is the hypocrisy I don't like. He is getting what he deserves. It is not anyone's fault but his own that he is dragging his family down with him.

Michael Moore movie about Flint Michigan, or institutional and foster care placements of kids---I suppose I have seen too many of those.

The years of hiding bother me too - I saw a clip in Pelosi's daughter's film in which this guy talks about heterosexual sex in which he was asking men in his church about their sex lives with their wives. He was trying to prove to the filmmaker that "christian" men had great sex lives. A very strange scene.

13. He made his choice
Unlike being gay being a fundi actually is a choice. This poor human being my ass, he was a phony that clawed his way into a top leadership position and all the time being a hypocrite about his personal truth. I don't feel one iota of sympathy for him at the moment, however, if he redirects his life to correcting the damage he has inflicted to his family and the gay population then he would actually deserve some sympathy.

15. nah..
If the guy came out and apologized for being a judgemental hypocrite, and admit it's ok that he likes dudes, then I would leave him alone. Until then, fire away.

He got outed in the worst way. Yeah, he's a hypocrite and how far he fell was his own fault. But damn, that was unbearable for me to watch, no matter whose fault it was.

19. Considering the anti-gay hate he preached
for so many years it's hard for me to feel sorry for him. Besides the colossal hypocrisy involved, I think about all the young people in his church who were struggling with their sexuality only to be told by him they are sick, perverted and are going to hell. They are the real victims.

While I do feel sorry for his family, it's Haggard who is causing them pain, especially considering he is out there actively promoting this new HBO documentary, putting him and them back in the spotlight.
