75-year-old fugitive caught in Detroit-Windsor Tunnel
BY CHRISTY ARBOSCELLO • FREE PRESS STAFF WRITER • JANUARY 24, 2009

A 75-year-old fugitive, who was on the lam for 33 years, is due back in a Wisconsin prison after he was caught at the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel this week, U.S. Customs officials said today.

The man was nabbed after disembarking from the tunnel bus in Detroit and showing his identification. “He was coming to the country, into the United States from Canada, and when the officers did their inspection, they checked his name and they…saw there was a warrant for his arrest,” Chief Ron Smith, a Customs and Border Protection spokesman in Detroit, said tonight of the Wednesday afternoon incident.

The prisoner, who Smith knows of only by the last name of Grazley, was to be temporarily held at Wayne County Jail before extradition to Milwaukee. Smith said it is possible he is en route to Wisconsin.

Customs officials do not have the man’s criminal record. They only know he has been sought by authorities since 1976 when he was an inmate taken to a Wisconsin hospital, which he allegedly walked away from.

6. Statute of limitations
does not apply to convictions, only if you commit a crime and are not indicted and charged, once charged and tried no limitations on it.

3. Aww jeez.
33 years and no arrest since. Time served.

Maybe not in a cell, but certainly not as himself.

8. I wonder why he was headed back into the country.
Also, one would think that after 33 years you could get your hands on other ID
