26. I once joked with a well known guitarist...
Who touted that his band was OTF (On Tour Forever) that I was going to invent a walker that doubles as a guitar and mic holder to help him keep that promise... either he didn't get the joke, or he didn't like it... I haven't really decided which version I want to remember:)

That was the date of Elvis's first appearance on the Ed Sullivan show. I do not remember it happening, as it occurred a short while after I was born.

My memory must be fake or of some other appearance. I was only about 9 mos old. But, darn, I remember ONE of his appearances because the whole family moved from the kitchen to the livingroom.

So I don't remember either. But now I know that I am about 4 months older than you. LOL

But I do remember one of those early appearances too, because everyone was gathered around the television and they only showed him from his waist up.

I was ten years old, too young to have a crush on a performer, but my fifteen year old sister was gaga for Elvis.

As I remember, they didn't show Elvis's hip swivels, but Mitzi Gaynor, or some such person, danced in a bathing suit sort of get up later on the show, and it was fine to show her whole body! (This may have happened with a later Ed Sullivan appearance, not the first. Don't blame me, I am rather old.)

Edited because my parenthetical comment was left off...

54. generation gap
I was in the sixth grade, but I don't remember us watching it. My favorite singer was Eddie Arnold and my first record was Tennessee Ernie Ford's "Sixteen Tons"(on 78). My mom bought the first 45 in the house ( we had a brand new record player that would play 45's) The record was "You Ain't Nothin' But a Hound Dog". She always voted for the best looking candidate in an election.(She told me this) When she told me she was voting for Mc Cain because "that's who old people are voting for", I sat her down an explained a few things to her and she actually changed her mind and voted for Obama.
yea Obama! , you go dude!!!! :fistbump:
