1. Conservatives don't seem to mind using over the top hysterics
Meanwhile you foolish liberals keep relying on reason, respectful listening, and thoughtful discourse. And that shall be your undoing! You fools!! Muwaaa-haaa-haaa-haaaaaa!!!

2. On a block walk in October
We were working our wingnut county and were screeched at by this woman with five kids in a dirt yard saying she was going to vote for "family values." We made an attempt to engage her, but she started screaming about how O had voted against giving funding for health care for babies who were victims of partial birth abortions.

We thought it was time to leave.

3. You know, I just started reading The Audacity of Hope
And I was thinking about that. I'm sorry, but there is no compromsie with people who want to control my life and make life-changing decisions for me. I am a married adult who's only ever been with my husband. I think I can decide if I want a kid or not, and actually the expense of a kid would probably put us out on the street. So yeah - there is no understanding or compromise here.

If people want to control other people's reproductive choices, they should step up and raise the kids that they force into existence. Oh, and also pay me quite a bit of money to compensate for the psychological and physical pain of pregnancy and missing work. So, if you want ownership of my uterus you have to pay me a small fortune and take the kid off my hands once it's out.

6. No, no, no. Once they ae born, they're your problem
We don't give a shit about them once they have arrived from the womb. They can starve to death for all we care, as long as they get birthed.

4. I asked one whack job to take me off his mailing list of racist
lying reich wing crap. He replied that he thought my students should know what he's sending (???) but he would (he didn't). He cautioned me to beware of "Barack the Muslim."

I'm very careful about talking politics with my students because 1) most of them are Republicans like their parents and I don't want a backlash especially since 2) it isn't my content area. However, the kids know where I stand. We talk privately and in my own personal space, I have a magnetic Obama bumper sicker on my desk. They have to be where they technically aren't supposed to be to see it. I respect their views and for the most part they respect mine.

5. I had one Army buddy criticize me for my open contempt for bush.
He said he saw no justification for my "hatred."

I could have done a point by point reply, but this guy got laid off six months before retirement, his 401k is worthless, and he had to go back to work. I decided to keep it short and sweet by asking him if he is better off now that he was eight years ago. The other guys are blasting him for not answering me.
