We have a 257-178 advantage in the House. Why even give GOP members the time of day? All the Boner can do is bitch and moan and give speeches but he doesnt even have close to the votes to do a damn thing. Why should any of their proposals get the time of day?

Also in the Senate we need what? 2 votes? 3 maybe? That would come from Collins, Snowe or McCain.

2. No shit. They should just consider this a two-year vacation.
Although I suppose keeping them occupied by letting them give their bullshit speeches on the House floor is better than leaving them to do whatever evil they might find themselves doing. Same rationale that cities use for "Midnight basketball" and other such stuff. Keep them out of trouble.

4. Because while it is tempting,
it's really not legal to tie them to large, heavy pieces of furniture and lock them in their offices.

More's the pity.

8. Obama wants Republicans to be invested in his policies.
If things don't get better, it won't just be the fault of Obama/Congressional Dems, Republicans will have a stake in it as well.

Clinton's first budget passed without a single Republican vote, and we saw what happened to our majorities in the following year.

10. Because we don't want to be the mob...
that craps on the minority. As much as some of them deserve it, the founding fathers wanted the minority to have a voice.

17. Screw that! Be the mob!
When the minority is dangerous and delusional, there is no percentage in being "polite" or "parental."

I'd rather be a correct mob than a polite one, any day.

Mariah.

I call myself an Obama supporter.

I call myself...

a big fat sarcastic jerk.

I call myself happy to have Obama and not king george sleeping in the White House.

Woo hoo!

(I also call myself one who agrees with the OP that we marginalize the repukes to the maximum extent possible and act based on principle rather than politics.)
