Hitler's Grammy Drunk During Cop Stop, Says Mom
 at the headline. Sad for the kids of this dysfunctinal bunch.

Little Adolf Hitler Campbell’s parents are already in the midst of a custody battle. And now they may have even more trouble on their hands, because grandma was sauced in the backseat of their car, according to Adolf’s mother.

Deborah Campbell, Adolf's mom, claims the couple was mistreated by Raritan Township police during a traffic stop.

With husband Heath at the wheel and her mother in the backseat, Deborah was headed to family court Jan. 13, when they were pulled over by police at around 10 a.m.

Deborah claimed police referred to him as “the Nazi guy” and quizzed him about his tattoos, one of which is a swastika, according to the Express-Times. She says they also made Heath take a sobriety test after allegedly smelling alcohol in the car.

But, it was grandma drunk in the backseat, not Heath, Deborah said. She was headed to court with the couple in hopes the three children would be released to her if the parents could not gain custody.

Mom also broke the court order and is speaking out wanting her kids back. NY Times has an extensive story on this wacky family. http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/20/nyregion/20hitler.html?em

1. I know some folks were complaining about the term "white trash" here at DU.
This family embodies it though. Truly and duly. Like it or not.

11. Not very intelligent, no education, bad jobs, no hope
and plenty of rotten people around them to tell them who to blame. It's the wrong people, of course, but at least it's somebody else.

I hope somebody gets through to these people about the crap their kids are going to have to eat all their lives if they don't change those names.

2. She thought they'd release two kids to a drunk person?
Geez. The apple is right next to the tree in that family.

13. You have no idea what state people show up in for court
For example, people showing up drunk or seriously drugged out.

A guy accused of beating his wife -- showing up in a "wife beater"

One guy came in with an orange T-shirt on that said "GUILTY." I'm assuming it's some pop reference with which I'm not familiar, but nonetheless highly inappropriate for court.

I had one guy, challenging the accusation that he was violent, who became so out of control that I had to use my panic button to call the sheriffs to remove him from the building.

But the new phenomenon comes from MySpace and Facebook, where people post things that contradict what they're claiming in court.

We had one woman trying to get the father of her kid to give her more child support, which she claimed she needed. The father came in with copies of her MySpace page talking about and showing the results of her two recent boob jobs. He claimed that if she could afford boob jobs, she didn't need more money from him. The judge agreed.

One other woman was trying to deny the father custody and was positioning herself as mother of the year. That might have flown if the father hadn't found and printed out her MySpace page where she talked about how much she drank last weekend, how many drugs she and her boyfriend did ("Shit, I think I still have a pill stuck in my throat.") And, how she liked to suck her new boyfriend's "big, fat . . . . " The judge didn't consider that "mother of the year" material.

People have no idea that whatever the post on those pages has the potential to become permanent -- and become evidence. (Also, employers have taken to searching out potential employees on MySpace and Facebook to see what they have there.)

17. Fascinating.
This could be a website of it's own for the sheer amount of hilarity (patheticly schadenfreude but hilarity none-the-less) within.

6. You have to understand
The next morning, granny would be sober, but the kid would still be named Hitler.

5. Read that Times story yesterday, and...
the social worker says she knows of many a kid with a terrible name, even one named after "a venereal disease." (Chlamidia sounds cute if you don't know what it is...)

And the landlord is finally evicting them since now the kids are gone.

Something tells me the drunken grandma isn't going to get custody, so the kids will end up in foster care. Whether this is a good thing or not I have no idea, but the whole story is very sad. Even though Heath saw a movie and is now convinced Hitler was a scumbag, there seems to be no good end to this.
