It's going to happen. I think we ought not take credit so early for anything, these markets are all fucked up, and it's like playing with a pissy lion.

12. Wasn't the market officially closed before the Oath of Office was administered?
Obama was not President during that market decline so it is hard to blame "the new President".

18. The market closed a 4PM same as everyday.
9:30AM-4PM normal trading hours (8AM-8PM extended hours).

19. Oops I was thinking about where I live
It closes at 12:00 noon here but Obama was sworn in at 8:00AM here. I was wrong and embarrassed about it. Sorry.

17. Exactly in the last year virtually all DOW changes have been 80+ pts.
Better subject line would be:
On first day of office a completely normal up day to the market.
