Feds: Zero Arrests During Obama Inaugural
http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/dc/2009/01/feds-zero-arrests-during-obama.html

Nobody got arrested during President Obama’s record-smashing Inauguration celebration, The Mouth learned tonight from a half-dozen D.C. and federal law enforcement officials.

Think about that folks.

Crowd estimates range from 1-2 million on the National Mall today. And no one left wearing bracelets.

“As of 6 p.m. no one had been arrested by any agency - unheard of for a crowd that size,” said one senior federal agent inside the Joint Information Center. “Quite a testament to the President and the people wanting change for the better.”

4. from an msnbc piece --
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28733652/

"In contrast, eight were arrested during Bush’s second inauguration when far fewer people attended. Protesters had tried to rush a security gate three blocks from the White House and a flag was burned. Police briefly locked down the area, trapping some 400 to 500 spectators."

Far fewer attended, but more were arrested and/or hassled. QUITE the difference.

9. I was so hoping
they would let go of that chair and let it sail right down the stairs and over the edge.

And, I don't for half a second believe that he hurt his back moving boxes. People like that don't move boxes. That's what they have servants for. There is something else going on. I'm guessing he's preparing for his "I'm too sick to stand trial" defense, as most other dictators do.

8. If you were proud of them, perhaps you could resist calling them whores...
I find the term "whores" offensive to all women. Whether or not you approve of or hate their methods I encourage you to stop using the term. That is my preference and my opinion.

I enjoy lots of your posts, OMC, and I trust that you'll keep right on posting whether or not I approve of your word choice.

12. I think the lack of arrests has driven the freepers
even crazier. What are the odds that there would be that many people in DC at a political event with law enforcement drawn from every spectrum and not have one arrest??

The people are to be given lots of credit. I also think that whoever arranged the security should be applauded. Imagine if the security personnel had had the attitude that was exhibited in Denver and St.Paul??
Even a small faction with that mindset would have been disastrous.

I'm sure crowd size gave a lot of people pause, but you always expect one or two idiots to show up and try to cause a scene. It was amazing.
