It was designed by 26 year old Jason Wu.

1. I'm not a fan on one shoulder
stuff. Halter straps would look better. Other than that, it's lovely.

32. Michelle Obama
I think she looked great!

She's the Jackie O of our generation.

Such great style, and a whole lot of class.

Although I am a Canadian,I can't wait to see
more of the Obama family in the media.

Style and substance,Michelle Obama is what
I imagine to be the perfect "trophy wife",
if such a thing were to exist.

And the children are becoming fashion icons as well, giving
young Suri Cruise a run for her money! lol

6. She seems to have a lot of problems with the length.
She keeps getting tripped up or stepping on it.

Other than that, I like it!

31. Yeah I noticed that too
I think it's because it has a train on the back, if it wasn't for that the dress would be fine.

8. I love it
She did it her way, marking her own style. Just gorgeous. Absolutely beautiful.

She's gonna open the door for lots of young, new American designers, I suspect, and when I think of Nancy Reagan and all the clothes she "borrowed" from designers - remember the stink when she didn't send some back? - and Pickles wearing the upholstery, well, Michelle is just gonna write a whole new definition of "First Lady" in every dimension.

19. For all the fuss Nancy made over "borrowing" then keeping clothing, she always
wore a red suit and looked the same no matter what.

26. Her head
I saw a photo of her and Ronnie, all dressed up for his first inaugural ball, and, I am not kidding, her head was twice the size of a normal head, I swear.

I found this - doesn't it look like someone put that head on someone else's body?

10. I LOVED HER DRESS
She looks absoluteley STUNNING!!!..Elegant, Classy, sophisticated. Everything combined. I have to admit that i was a little nervous Michelle's choice because she hasn't made good decisions in the past, HOWEVER, when I saw her tonight it was a remarkable and pleasant surprise.

Michelle really hit a home run with this dress. Sometimes, LESS is more and this dress didn't make Michelle. Michelle MADE the dress.

I was in total awe!!!... I loved the color too. I am glad she didn't pick a dress wiht stones, glitz..

She looks ELEGANT!

28. Jewel tones would have been great, and styling that compliments her height.
Michelle Obama is always beautiful. I just think she could have played up the big advantages of her elegant height and carriage with a dress like the one in the picture in your post, SoCalDem.

38. I agree that the dress you posted would look fantastic,
but the white dress - simple for an inauguration gown - send a signal of rebirth and starting anew in a clean fresh way - especially when you saw Obama and her together. If you look just at the dress - you can say that you didn't like one characteristic or another - but forget being a fashion critic, step back and look at the entire picture and consider what you see.

Michelle Obama looked great in the dress - elegant and youthful at the same time - that rather than how the dress itself looked is what was important. She and Obama - wearing black and white had the jazz like cool - but one that was very approachable and unjaded.

20. It was a lovely dress and she wore it beautifully well,
until it came to dancing. The train got in her way. She didn't know to lift a corner of the train for the dance. It's too bad no one coached her on this, but she carried through it gracefully ball after ball. I think both she and her designer will note this for future balls.

I don't care for the one-shoulder look. Or anything asymmetric, come to think of it.

Would have preferred sleeveless or half-sleeves...

Color and design was nice until you get to that strap... YUCK!

If it had been strapless, I would have hated it. I think strapless dresses are fugly.

35. The cut was okay. The fabric didn't translate to TV well.
And white formals are for weddings.

She'd look great in a sack, but it really didn't do anything to enhance her amazing looks, and I think it may have distracted from them.
