Now, how does this make any sense at all...according to the
former President, there are terrorists around every corner, under the bed, in the bushes...we are all in such constant danger that his people have to tap our phones, curtail our rights, check out the libraries. Now comes the Inauguration of his successor and we have , how many, 2 million people packed into about a 10 block area and otherwise roaming around Washington DC and, with the same federal employees, we manage to pull off this event with no incidents that I've heard of, no terrorist attacks...an orderly crowd. Today, in and of itself, proved another one of Bush's awful lies. Let us never, never forget what happened on the Washington Mall today.

2. Hey!!!!
I just realized we got through that Inaugural, a really appealing target, don't you think, for terrorists, and WE DIDN'T EVEN HAVE AN ORANGE ALERT!!!!

Or did John Ashcroft and John Yoo take them when they lit out of town with their tails between their legs?

3. Bush's lies were an attempt to prevent what we're seeing today.
Luckily, Bush's lies are why Bush's mother got to see her son booed by two million of her fellow Americans this morning.

was the biggest antidote to fear a citizen could have. No speech could have duplicated the power of that emotion.

11. We are, I have no doubt of that but there are ways to deal with it and
I think Obama made it clear in the very first part of his speech that we don't have to sacrifice our freedom in the name of fear.

and will not likely veer off Bush's policies as much as people think.

19. Huh? He better veer right the fuck off Bush's policies!
Bush has not kept us safe - he allowed our enemies to escape by attacking the wrong country - -> for oil profits.

Bush severely crippled our international alliances and ability to track down our real enemies.

Bush tried to turn the nation into a police state - complete with Orwellian "terror alert color codes" for the masses.

Obama better veer right the fuck off those policies.

23. Yep
But in the meantime use those laws to track and capture the known republican terrorists wandering around the country right now. Then, once those evil bastards are put away, then we get rid of the wiretap and Patriot Acts.

GObama!

10. And ABC News reports that NOT ONE
arrest was made in Washington DC of anyone participating/watching the Inaugural festivities. People, that is unheard of for a crowd like that. My hat's off to Washington DC, to all the people who showed up to witness this history and to all the security people keeping this day joyous and safe.

Bush's "strategery" worked...

we all went shopping and defeated the "terrists"

see how easy that was?

:+

Seriously....the REAL terrorist jumped on the former Air Force One and was shipped back to Texas....one against 1.8 million people? Nope...too many even for W to handle...

Wait, he's stated that he just doesn't care about that 9/11 thing, except to use it to grab and maintain power and trillions of our tax dollars.

22. every time I look at a photo of that crowd, I get goosebumps . . .
Edited on Wed Jan-21-09 03:55 PM by OneBlueSky
that was, without a doubt, a unique happening in the history of presidential inaugurations . . . and virtually every person there was smiling, despite having to stand for hours in the freezing cold . . . and when Obama took the oath, those who didn't cry had lumps in their throats . . . a truly magical event it was . . .

people feel the change . . . they want the change . . . they need the change . . . let's hope the new administration can deliver real change, and not just the appearance thereof . . .

on edit: can you imagine what people in other countries thought, seeing that crowd? . . . after eight years of Bush, not only did we elect a black man with a Muslim middle name, we also turned out in unprecedented numbers to celebrate his inauguration . . .

"Hey, maybe those Americans ain't so bad after all" had to be going through more than a few minds yesterday . . . either that or "Thank God, they finally got their shit together and did something right!" . . .
