And on a pettier note...
I note the following:

* Cheney pulled a muscle moving boxes. That's a sure sign of the universe's sense of humor if I ever saw one. Also, in a wheelchair his resemblance to Mr. Potter from _It's A Wonderful Life_ is now complete.

* I hope Bush noticed the difference between the smattering of polite applause that greeted his appearance and the giant collective climax that occurred when his replacement appeared.

* I do enjoy imagining Bush looking around and thinking, "Gee, nobody threw me a party like this when *I* got inaugurated."

* Way to fuck up a historical moment, Roberts. Too bad we couldn't get you filibustered when we had the chance.

* Bush is apparently only going to spend a short time at Crawford before moving to Dallas. My guess is, now that they don't need to burnish his faux-populist cred with brush-clearing any more, that thing will be sold or rented out before you can say "Potemkin."

C ya,

2. On ABC it sounded like a golf clap.
You know...silence with a little gentle rustling. Perhaps they were dialing down the booing.

13. I wonder if he heard how he was serenaded on the way outta town?
The crowd watching him board what used to be Marine One (it was renamed Executive One for this trip because he no longer had the title he stole eight long years ago): "Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey hey, Goo-ood BYE!" I hope he did. That means he heard my kid, because our son was there as a presidential scholar and his group was there to watch that. He called me after the helicopter lifted off to tell me! My son is also a singer/guitarist - www.acidicband.com - and I realized that this will be the ONLY time dubya will have the privilege of hearing my son sing without having to pay for it. That's the closest we'll ever get to comp'ing that bastard or anybody in his family.

An excuse to not stand up for him. I'll bet he's on his feet tomorrow.

On edit: Do you really think Cheney has to lift his own boxes?

21. Um, that'll be a big "My ASS" to that, sir!
There is NO WAY cheney would ever "lower" himself to such a menial chore as unloading or lifting packing boxes at the new house. That kind of work, for someone of his mentality and allegedly "lofty" status is for "the help." It's bullshit, for sure, and I'll bet it's going to get leaked before too long. No loyalty among thieves after all, especially when they realize their "grand wazoo" is out of power and has no further pull or clout and no weight to throw around anymore.

Either the dickster decided to give us tax payers one more up-yours - "you can pay to have me wheeled around, because I just don't feel like walking";

Or he decided he had one more chance to steal the spotlight and some of the commentary/coverage from Obama's big day;

Or, far more shitty (and it wouldn't surprise me at all), it was an up-yours to Obama because he didn't feel like he should have to stand for the new President. After all, we all need to remember just Who He Is. I certainly do. Who he is - is a World-Class ASSHOLE.

6. 'Way more petty: this morning I noticed Laura looked animated
for the first time in recent memory although at rest, she looked miserable. Her daughters looked a little confused and Junior just looked irritated in the way that children do who aren't getting any attention.

Thank you, Universe!

I thought he was going to the town where he met Laura. And then to Dallas. Crawford is history - he got what he wanted out of that tiny town. Stage Dressing.

17. I was at the Mall
I think Most people thought Obama flubbed the line. I did til I got back and my BIL told me otherwise. The jumbotrons weren't that great, there was a huge lag. I was right behind the Washington Monument, I got President Obama on the jumbotron with the Capitol dome in the background. That was good enough for me.

30. Last-minute delivery to the shredder, natch.
It was a case of doing it himself, or having an aide do it and then having the aide shot -- he knew he might not be able to get the latter done in time.

... African-Americans couldn't live there.

I know they got rid of the law early in the 21st century, but does anyone know if any African-Americans live there?

They BOTH got boo'ed the fuck out!!

Laura "Pickles" Bush and Lynne "Lesbian Book" Cheney received a very cool reception. You could hear a pin drop on the Mall.

These motherfuckers in the right wing media want us to believe that there were only 1 million people in D.C., but I can assure ya'll that that there were at least 2.5 million people!!

He had that clueless baffled look on his face. It was either the cello or the oboe. Just like when he was trying to read My Pet Goat.

28. The Republicans will purchase the ranch as a retirement home for evil sidekicks.
For recreation the inmates... I mean residents... will torture one another in the secret bunkers.

But Bush, as a former President Evil Sidekick Supreme won't ever live there. The Republicans won't want the Secret Service anywhere near that place, which is a very good thing because no Secret Service Agent should have to watch a greased Paul Wolfowitz running around naked with his "joy buzzer" yelling "Catch me catch me if you can!"
