I'm hoping the size is about right. A well-crafted package will surely be a more targeted stimulus than merely cutting taxes for the upper few tiers. Putting people to work doing what we ought to be doing anyway will help in several ways. It creates a consumer who can then afford to stimulate his corner of the economy, and it empowers someone otherwise unemployed who could not benefit from having his taxes cut. And it's an excuse to start immediately on the big changes we've been longing for. It just might work.
Including the tax cuts is a mistake, one we should rectify sooner rather than later. The deficit and debt are already staggering.
I'm going to make a conscious effort not to giggle when someone mentions the size of the stimulus package.
