Found this out when my sis underwent an autologous bone marrow transplant (15 years cancer free) our donated plasma had to be pristine as she had no immune system for a time.

but have chosen not to go that route because of the cost. My sister had a kidney transplant many years ago and the cost was exorbitant, even with insurance. There is no way I would saddle my family with the costs for a few extra years.
