Can't you just see Bush issuing a back-dated Pardon next week?
Telling the world that he meant to leave it on the desk before he left but somehow it found its way into his coat pocket. I would not put it past him.

As much as he is a coward, he's also arrogant.

So, he may just pardon everyone at the last minute.

he doesn't pardon any of them? He doesn't need any of them any more and he is self-centered enough to throw everyone under the bus. I doubt it will go that way, but that stray thought crossed my mind earlier.

I'm sure Alberto is drafting the post hoc memorandum that says that nothing in the Constitution specifically forbids the Executive from continuing to exercise the privileges of office just because his term has expired. That would be part and parcel with the pattern of lawlessness exhibited by the Bush administration from even before Day One.
