This Will Be First Presidential Election I'm Really Not Excited About Voting
Without Al Gore or Russ Feingold, and the polls showing Edwards trailing in 3rd place, I'm pretty unenthusiastic about the possibility of a Hillary Clinton general election candidacy. Especially as the Moronic Stream Media is pushing her so heavily now.

Well, I'll vote for whomever the Democratic nominee is, because the alternative is obviously far worse. I really don't expect if Ms. Clinton wins, she'll do anything spectacular for the country or it's citizens, but what choice do we have?

I still hope that there is a chance Mr. Gore will run for President, and that he's just waiting for the right moment to alter his "plans."

7. You weren't happy with Gore and Kerry in 2000 and 2004 ???
They both won. AND WE WON! They were both truly great potential presidents, 1000 fold better than the nut job occupying the WH now.

18. She is pro choice and has a decent voting record.
Edited on Fri Mar-23-07 02:24 PM by Warpy
I'll vote for her, but I won't be a bit happy about it.

One of the last people I want into office is a war hawk. I will just have to hope Congress has better ideas.

Given a choice between a GOP war hawk and a Democratic war hawk, I'll take the Democrat.

22. Yeah. Like a guaranteed loss is preferable to a dem you disagree
with.

I'm not wild about Hillary, but she's no Joe Lieberman and she's guaranteed better than anyone the repubs will put up. I won't back her in the primary, but if she's the nominee, she gets my vote.

21. no one will be supporting a Green candidate on this website for the Presidential election.
You can take that to the bank. Just read the DU rules. Have a nice day.

23. I've voted more green than dem for the last six years...
...and I've been an active member of this communuity since 2001. You're right-- the DU rules prohibit urging others to vote for non-dem candidates, but they do NOT prohibit supporting those candidates personally-- or expressing your personal support for them-- and they do not prohibit criticizing dem positions on issues important to liberals. Nor do they prohibit criticizing dem candidates who fall short on those issues.

27. LOL-- I can and do...
Edited on Fri Mar-23-07 06:30 PM by mike_c
...e.g. I supported David Cobb over John Kerry throughout the 2004 presidential election. We are all free to express our PERSONAL political preferences, as long as we do it civilly and-- if those preferences are for someone other than a democrat-- as long as we do it without proselytizing on Skinner's board. It is perfectly acceptable for me to support a green candidate here-- just not acceptable to try to convince you to do so.

BTW, the watch word is "civility."

6. Um, it's a little early....
None of us have any idea who's going to be the nominees for the 2008 election. (God, I long for the days when we didn't start talking about this stuff until the beginning of the election year.)

17. Little Early?
Way, way, way too early.

I think this is going to backlash on most of these candidates ... this campaigning so vigorously two years before the election.

What it really shows is a huge evil in our current system -- it takes so much money.

The campaign contributions system is another one of those things that is destroying our democracy.

Besides, how can you retain enthusiasm for a candidate for so long? By next year this time we may be begging for a fresh face. I am with those folks who are not excited -- especially with the Clinton prospect.

I've never voted for a third party candidate for president (really), but this might be the first year ... oops, I mean next year.

26. Agreed. Some 600 days away, and good grief, seems like something changes daily.
There will be at least 600 changes from here to there. And maybe, just maybe, we'll get the candidate we all want when all is said and done. ;-) Now isn't that exciting?

8. The election is WAY TOO far away for excitement yet!
I'm getting all the excitement I can take with the "new Shrub scandal" every week! I've been spending way too much time checking different web sites and reading the newly released emails, and just having a GREAT TIME knowing the ShrubCo is wiggling and squirming like a bunch of cornered snakes!

Right now, let the different candidates assault each other. I'll check back around September, see who'sleft standing, and THEN we can talk about excitement!

10. Well the tide better swing to Edwards
Because the squeaky clean Obama has been caught fudging his responses.
Remember when the asked him about the so called ad on YouTube and I said he was smirking like bush, well he did know the maker.

The person who made the ad was living with, but not declaring himself a member of Obama's campaign. They have pictures of him with the campaign members. He now says he will leave. If he wasn't a member why is he leaving.

This raises questions about Obama and whether you can really believe him. Remember how bush wouldn't deny the ad about Kerry. Real democrats don't like people that do things like this.

I think Hillary would make a good of a president as anybody. But she has a snowballs chance in hell to get the nomination. The republicans have swiftboated her for 15 years and now the democrats are taking it up also, so on top of her being a woman, she won't get the nomination.

I hope Edwards does not drop out. Because after this fiasco with the ad and Obama denying knowledge I wouldn't vote for him if he was the candidate. This is a blatant lie.

I'll wait until the last day of registrying to start worrying about who to vote for. As it stands now I have no favorites of the announced ones but let me make it clear it is going to be a Democratic Candidate I vote for eventually though.

15. 19 1/2 months is a very long time.
Having so many states bump up their primary dates is one of the worst ideas in the world, although most of us understand why they did it. The front runners will likely be fatally wounded by the time the convention rolls around. It may not matter who wins the overly early primary races if they've been forced to drop out during the overly long period between primary and convention.

I'm not going to develop my own lack of enthusiasm until mid 2008 when I want to kill the lot of them over the barrage of campaign ads.

At this rate the only two people NOT running might just be me and you. And I'm not too sure about you.

24. Careful...
That's one of the reasons bush got voted for (I know he cheated to get in, but he needed a close margin for that). Evil triumphed because we said 'our candidate doesn't impress me, maybe bush won't be so bad' in 2000
