Don't we grow wheat in america anylonger ?
If in fact this was in fact rat poison in chinese wheat which we will probably never really know the truth on this issue as with just about everything else we are feed these days . This is what we are told killed our pets .

My wife and I have been freaked out with our 4 cats , so far nothing has happened .

I have to wonder now just what do we purchase in the USA that does not come from china .

I have reached the point where if I can't find what I need made in the USA I refuse to buy it but now here we have food from all over the world , food we grow right here in america . It seems we have the resouces of all raw material but no plants to manufacture anything here at all .

There has got to be a point where all americans band together and get this back to america , as if many here don't already know this , I just have to vent a bit out of shear anger .

4. Menu Foods is a mezzanine capital fund...
so I'm sure the Chinese wheat was bought because it was cheaper.

5. I was googling Chinese wheat
China does indeed import a lot of wheat for consumption. That which they export is described a feed quality grain which presumably includes what was made into pet food.

13. Great, so if they wanted, they could bring down all our livestock herds.
I'm not a big meat eater, but if our livestock was similarly attacked, it would have a major negative impact on our economy. There are more ways than just bombs to bring a country to it's knees.

6. well, keep in mind that (in theory) different safeguards are in place for food
meant for human consumption.

Or they should be, except that the "administration" has decided to let the foxes guard the henhouse.

8. Safeguards? After this administration, you say safeguards?
You trust Monsanto and their ilk?

9. I don't trust them in the least
especially in light of human-grade food problems of late. And as someone who has a HUGE attachment to my cats and dog, this pisses me off even if it's not human-grade food.

7. We're probably feeding a lot of our own ag produce
to meat producing animals. That's just a guess.

Either that, or we're selling wheat at a premium price overseas and importing the cheap stuff from China to feed ourselves.

11. USAID, the military
Well, to put on my fuck america cap for a moment - if I were an AG CEO - I'd get me one of those crony government contracts. Wouldn't you? I suspect our wheat is going to the military, first, and then to government aid programs all over the world. Wherein we pour food into third world countries which actually makes it difficult for their own farmers to sell their crop. So we're subsidizing our wheat crop and pushing up the price, to the point that it's cheaper to buy foreign wheat here at home. Crazy.

12.  We do ship alot of raw materials to china
All to be products produced in chinas factories . I have heard on Hartmanns show that the US is not the largest exporter of raw materials and the largest inporter of finished products where it used to be the other way around . This has to be a direct effect of all the outsourced factories from the US to China .
