19-Year-Old Arrested On Battery Charge

DELTONA, Fla. -- A Central Florida 19-year-old threw a taco at his mother for unplugging his video game system, authorities said.

According to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office, 54-year-old Dena Moir told her son, Zachary, several times to come downstairs for dinner. When he didn't respond, she went upstairs and unplugged his Xbox. She told deputies her son pushed her, called her names and ordered her out of his room.

Zachary later went to the kitchen and threw his taco in his mother's face.

Dena Moir told a 911 dispatcher she had tried to get her son out of the house before.

Zachary Moir is being held without bond in the Volusia County Branch Jail. He's charged with domestic violence battery.

I say good for the mom for calling the cops. People wonder about men who get violent with their gf's and wives, but if a Mom can put a stop to it now, she may be saving a young woman from a world of heartache and misery. Maybe and hopefully the young man will learn from his arrest. Hopefully he'll get some much needed anger management and work at better communication skills.

DELTONA — A 19-year-old Deltona man was sitting in jail today accused of attacking his mother with a taco, a booking officer said.

Zachary Moir is charged with domestic violence battery and is being held on $1,500 bail, the booking officer said.

Moir has been in jail since Tuesday when deputies arrested him for assaulting his mother, Dena Moir, a report states. Calls made to the mother were not returned.

According to the report, Dena Moir called Volusia County sheriff’s deputies to her Bolger Court home at 5:17 p.m. Tuesday to report the incident. The mother told deputies that she had called her son to dinner and after several attempts to get him to come to dinner, she went upstairs to her son’s room and disconnected the xBox he was playing. The son called his mother a name and asked her to leave his room.

Zachary Moir then came to eat while his mother was cleaning the kitchen and when she pushed him to get him out of the way, Zachary slapped her left arm, called her a "retard" and threw a taco in her face, the report said.

My dad was slow to rile, but once he did; we learned to vacate the room quickly. Pop was sitting at the kitchen table when my older brother said or did something that really pissed him off.

He picked up the only weapon available, (a stick of margarine) and threw it at him. A glancing right to the chin! My brother just looked at him and calmly said, "Pass the bread please".
Everyone laughed, and that was the end of it. Happened over 45 years ago, and we still remember it like it was yesterday. :rofl:
