Boy licks light pole, gets stuck (for real)
It must have been a triple-dog dare, and the kid never watched "A Christmas Story".

snip> Hammond police say the unidentified fourth-grader was able to tell them that a friend dared him to lick the pole Wednesday night. Temperatures in the Chicago suburb were around 10 degrees at the time.

3. My brother did that back in the Sixties and my

dad said kids did it fairly often in Cleveland back in the Twenties and Thirties. "Christmas Story" reflected actual events. Same with the "You'll shoot your eye out." The son of the conductor of the Cleveland Symphony shot his eye out with a BB gun.

6. The "brat" of the kindergarten in 1947 when I was
a kindergartner did that..it delighted me because someone had to go across the street, find a teacher and he had to wait until the teacher came to free him.

7. At this point in history....
this kid is a Dumbshit... officially a Dumbshit.

If his parents have not made sure that he saw "Christmas Story", they are Dumbshits, too.

Nature trying to cull the herd.

I wonder what would happen if you stuck a BBQ fork into a wall receptacle?

14. Two of my three kids have gone through stages in their lives where
no matter the logic, the teaching, the repeated warnings, etc., they HAVE to try some things out for themselves. My very bright 17 yo remembers that stage in her life well. My son is entering it now. It drives me nuts, and while it is difficult to understand how bright kids can do such stupid things, I think it's just sometimes part of being a kid.

10. Yep. One time when I was a kid, my dad decided to
buy fudgesicles from the ice cream man for all the kids on the block. As soon as those things touched our mouths they were stuck. We used the garden hose. My dad is eighty now and still laughs about all those kids trying to yell with fudgesicles stuck in their mouths.

12. Even better, breathe on it.
The warmth of the breath will melt the connection gently.

13. I grew up in Edmonton, Alberta Canada
And -40 (F or C, the scales cross at that point) was not uncommon. Yet I never did know a child who actually did this.
