A tribute to the pilot who who took media attention away from Bush's last speech
:toast:

Or we could toast the geese who took the plane down.

At any rate, I was thrilled to turn on the news this morning and see the plane crash instead of George Bush.

And thank God no one died in this crash. What an awesome pilot!!

3. Funny how Bush didn't even mention this
last night. What a loser.

Check out this bird strike slide show from Huffpo

Let me add that Sully was Chairman of the pilots' Union Safety Committee.

5. I wondered about that too
But then I figured it took all of his brain cells to smile about the soldier who died in Iraq.

7. How appropriate, too. An action of competence, skill, and courage overshadowing
a mealy-mouthed, self-aggrandizing screed about cowardice, incompetence, pettiness, selfishness, greed, and ludicrously misplaced self-importance.

To Captain Sullenberger, a grateful and respectful salute to you, sir! :patriot:

And to Resident Drinky McPukeShoes, a one-fingered salute and a wish for you to burn in Hell for seven eternities... (no "bird" emoticon available). _|_

8. Yep glad to see a real pilot and some other amazing heroes
take the spotlight away from "one bad pilot" in more ways than one.

:toast: to the the pilots and crew of that flight, the ferry captains who so quickly came to the rescue, the Coast Guard and NYC emergency services, and the passengers of the flight!

14. Who'd have thought we'd all be smiling at the news last night, eh?
There was a sea full of heroes out there yesterday--not to take anything away from what the pilot did. Any mistakes, and there could have been a lot of casualties on the ground, too. Competent flying and perfect decision-making in a life-and-death situation where the wrong choice or a moment's hesitation could have been tragic.

9. I think it was a message from God
What are to odds that some birds struck airplane/force it to crashland in NYC on the day, when bush gives farewell speech, and take all the attention in the media!

My husband even commented last night that Bush didn't even mention the ditching as if it never happened. Typical of that loser!

Awesome pilot indeed. His training and experience saved all their lives. He was a Blue Team mission commander of Red Flag at Nellis when he was in the Air Force.

12. Has Obama given him a seat at the inauguration yet?
Meritorious service to the country for relieving gas pains, and oh yeah, saving at least 155 lives--and anyone on the ground where less capable pilots might have crashed.
