Does anyone think the House rethugs 'really believe' in the rightness

of this war, or is it all partisan politics at play, combined with supporting the dim one no matter what?
I can't help but marvel at how delusional they sound when speaking of 'victory' in Iraq.

1. They're thinking with their gonads, not their brains
and it's like their high school sports: the alternatives are only winning and losing. The idea of cutting one's losses and skedaddling to fight another day doesn't occur to them. They're rooting for the old home team and defeat is just too icky to contemplate! Rah rah rah!

So yeah, they do believe the jingoistic, violent crap they're spouting.

2. I believe it is pride pure and simple
They are way too proud to admit defeat. And blathering on about "Victory" is purely testosterone. They think they are proud badass Patriotic Americans instead they are pathetic chumps "supporting our troops" by keeping them in Harm's Way forever to justify the lies of their "leader."

No doubt they think the truth. If we admit we have been wrong all along we will be the minority party for the next 40 years. Meanwhile our kids continue to die.

3. You nailed it.
Allowing a democratic victory might set a precedent and the entire weight of white house influence has been brought to bear on this debate. The election of 2006 and its attendant debates has not stopped just because the election is over.

4. I think there are many in government....
that firmly believe in the righteousness of getting what they deem necessary for preserving their way of life. If that happens to mean invasion and occupation of a country with needed resources, they will say or do anything to achieve the end results.

5. Thesse contemptible chickenshits think that slapping another ribbon on the old SUV
makes them patriots.
