Cheney considering writing book: "I've got a lot of stories to tell. And a few scores to settle."

http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2009/01/dick-cheney.html

<snip>

But Cheney, the silent sly one who's words were mostly saved for the ears of the president, just told Sean Hannity today that he's seriously considering writing a book.

"I never have," Cheney said. "and my family has been bugging me about it. I've got 40 years since I came to town to stay 12 months. I've got a lot of stories to tell. And a few scores to settle."

And he laughed. "I'm going out with a good heart," Cheney added. "It's been a tremendous experience. It's been great serving with this president. And I think we did some good work. And I do look forward to family time, and a little more time on the stream and out in the fields. But I don't plan to retire yet."

7. We thought the process would take care of itself and we
didn't show up. Evil is always ready and willing to fill the vacuum.

8. As one who did show up, I think you're right.
That's one of the biggest disappointments for me over the past 8 years. I was very active in anti-Bush activism after he stole the election and was dismayed by how willing die-hard Democratic friends were to just look the other way. As one told me, they assumed Bush would be a one-termer and he'd be a failure and out in '04. That was before 9/11, but even in early '01 I knew that if the Busheviks did what they did to seize power (e.g., disenfranchising voters, subverting the election process), they would go to any length to hold on to it.

I was also very active in the anti-war movement and a grassroots leader in the Dean "insurgency." Part of the reason I've had to unplug from that kind of stuff is burnout and the huge disappointment I had in the indifference I saw in so many. An indifference or apathy that enable evil, as you call it, to thrive.
