Am I wrong to be sickened by Tony Dungy love-fest today on the news?

Seriously, if I hear how "classy" he is one more time I'm going to hurl. He's probably a nice guy, and he did a heck of a job as a coach. And I really do feel for him on the loss of a child. However, he's also a pretty rabid homophobe who spoke before Indiana's version of James Dobson's group, and he took a pretty public stance in favor of the same sex marriage ban in Indiana. I know that he's a religious nut, but that's no excuse. That said, bigotry is bigotry.

1. Agreed. All the best to him, but he is a bit off the deep end.
He will go into the Hall of Fame, but he's a little too reich wing for my tastes. I wish him a long and healthy life, and a little more introspection would do him some good, as well.

5. I'm a die hard Colts fan and I couldn't agree more.
Great coach. I like is unflappable style, in the old Tom Landry mold, and you can't argue with his success. That being said, I have always been one to totally divorce sports from politics (except for Curt Schilling, I still hold a grudge there). That is especially true of someone like Dungy. I wish him well as he waits for the Rapture.

9. The Hagiography Is Annoying
I'm with you. Fine coach, but it's not like Gandhi or something.

11. He did a good job in Indy
As far as Tampa, he was successful in much the same way Marty Scottenheimer was in San Diego.
Winning season sucked in the post season.
