Poll question: Once Dumbya is out, will the programming on CSPAN be changing?
Edited on Sun Jan-11-09 03:39 PM by ColbertWatcher
I noticed an awful lot of "Heritage Foundation" meetings, "American Enterprise Institute" gatherings, etc. getting free airtime on CSPAN.

Will all this free airtime end starting January 20, 2009 (or soon after)? Will the GOP justifications, apologies and lies for disaster capitalism be replaced with rational conversations hosted by progressive groups?

1. What's the difference between #1 and #3?
A matter of degree?

6. Actually, I changed #2 so it isn't as close to #3!
Thank you for pointing that out.

4. I'll be a contrarian voice
I watch a lot of C-Span because of my job, and they do a great job of balancing it out. Document the atrocities is my feeling on the matter.

7. I just changed the choices, I hope that didn't mess your vote up.
I haven't voted and will vote for your choice, if my change messes up your original selection.

9. With you.

For years I have found c-span to be the most balanced (politically) channel in the vast wasteland.

In addition to the RWers, they have Center for American Progress seminars, Noam Chomsky, Gore Vidal etc.

When all their air is categorized and counted, I'd expect liberal/conservative or D/R to be pretty close to even, share-wise. There might have been a slight abundance of AEI and Heritage for a while in the past, but I think that's because it took the Ds a few years to catch on to the value of a shadowish government in the wings in waiting in DC, preparing for their next return to power, with the accompanying think tanks, policy institutes etc.

I still say they are the fairest one of all.

5. I'm sick of all the Heritage foundation crap. They should be cut down to
about 10% of the coverage CSPAN gives them now.

8. I was dumbfounded at how fringe CSPAN became when I started seeing Cato on there.
I mean, WTF!?

Who are these people? They can't get elected dog catcher and yet they're on CSPAN!?

10. The GOP Network is working overtime to "inform the Public "
on Conservatism. It is to their advantage to double their efforts on
C-Span.

Last night there was some guy giving a hour long interview in which he
attacked Global Warming and was warning against Obama's green jkobs
program.

11. CSPAN aren't blatant right wing cheerleaders the way FAUX Noize is
But Brian Lamb is still a right wing conservative, and he's going to push that agenda in his own way as much as possible. Covering right wing meetings, scheduling right wing guests, taking more right wing calls on any of their call in shows, etc.

Probably the best way to get liberal voices heard on C-Span is have them call in on the Repuke line on such shows and pretend to be a "Republican who is opposed to (insert neocon Repuke here)'s policies/actions/statements/whatever".

13. They may not be blatant, but ...
... they give free advertising to fringe GOP ideas, books, groups, etc.
