What happened to PNAC? I googled them again to show someone
and they haven't posted any recent articles of their bloviating bullshit since 2006. Did they finally give up after Bush's failures to implement their crap and see it through?

I also noticed JEB Bush's endorsement of the statement of principles.

1. the PNAC website has been gone for a little time now,
they've renamed themselves. They still stink like crap. I don't remember the name they're using at present, but I'm sure someone here does.

Peace

AKA Project for the New American Century. And the OP is right... they've published nothing new since 2006... I'm shocked, I tells ya, shocked. ;)

2. Give up??
Have you been paying attention to Gaza?

And the US response?

They are powerful enough now that they can stay in the background.

for future unveiling. See this link -- http://thinkprogress.org/2008/11/10/pnac-20/

Note also the recent denials of neocon involvement in the failed policies of the past 8 years...Perle and others doing all they can to distance themselves from the Iraq War, etc. Link here -- http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/01/08/neocon-richard-perle-reno_n_156306.html

Edits to update title, add links............

6. According to Wikipedia, PNAC stopped functioning in 2006-2007:
End of the Organization
PNAC appears to have stopped functioning in 2006 or 2007, although many of their goals are still being fulfilled. Gary Schmitt, former executive director of the PNAC, a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute and director of its program in Advanced Strategic Studies, countered that PNAC had come to a natural end:

When the project started, it was not intended to go forever. That is why we are shutting it down. We would have had to spend too much time raising money for it and it has already done its job. We felt at the time that there were flaws in American foreign policy, that it was neo-isolationist. We tried to resurrect a Reaganite policy. Our view has been adopted. Even during the Clinton administration we had an effect, with Madeleine Albright saying that the United States was 'the indispensable nation'. But our ideas have not necessarily dominated. We did not have anyone sitting on Bush's shoulder. So the work now is to see how they are implemented.<17>

On July 8, 2008, The Project for the New American Century website said: "This Account Has Been Suspended Please contact the billing/support department as soon as possible." However, as of August 22, 2008, The Project for the New American Century website appears to be back up and running.

7. They haven't gone away, just gone undercover.
Edited on Sun Jan-11-09 03:09 PM by calimary
The same bastards are still around, still wielding influence, they're just attempting to fly under the radar. They know what some of the feelings are about them. If they lower their profile, change their name, trade jobs, invent new job titles, hidden in splinter groups where they play more musical chairs, and divided to distract and encourage us to forget - but they're still there.

richard perle, for example, is out there writing in public about how the whole Iraq debacle wasn't even ANY of the PNAC's doing - they had nothing to do with it, they never planned such a lame-ass failure, they weren't part of this, had no involvement, if it had been done the way they'd said everything would have been just ducky.

Instead, it's fucky.

And they're LAMINATED to it. And at least some of them know it. The rest of 'em are just in a complete coma of denial.

I mean - would YOU want YOUR name attached to one of the biggest military calamities in history?

Don't be fooled. They haven't gone away. Maybe they're not GROUPED the same way, all under the same umbrella group under the wing of the American Enterprise Institute. But they're still around. ALL of them. And I'd venture to say most of 'em are itching for a do-over, since their grand plans failed "the first time." They still believe in the over-arching theories and greedy philosophy of empire and world conquest and unilateral economic/military domination behind those plans. They're all just trap-door spiders at this point, in hiding, laying low, praying for another shot at a new-and-improved bush/cheney machine in order to implement their plans again - but this time for sure.

11. Their little party's over. The most infamous think tank of them all,
the merry band that launched two wars and a thousand tinfoil hats, has gone defunct.
