Tactically a Special Prosecutor makes a lot of sense

Obama has a lot of stuff he has to get through Congress and the Republicans will focus on fighting him will all the ability their diminished numbers will allow. The right-wing talk-machine will go into full force as if they had aline-item veto of all Presidential initiates. What better way to distract them, and indeed gain bargaining chips, than to appoint a Special Prosecutor? Let's fact it, if we have one its going to get the full time attention of much of the remaining power structure of the Republican Party and it would attract all their network of radio take show host's air-time too.

Obama has named very good capable people to high posts and they will focus on doing their jobs to get this country back on track. It will be easier for them to do their much needed jobs if the raging-right's attention is focused elsewhere, and prosecutions would certainly do that. Besides, we need a return to the rule of law and the only way to get that is to enforce existing law broken recently.
