The laws of this country are simply too numerous and oblique for all but lawyers to understand, yet everyone is expected to follow those laws. Why should someone be expected to follow a law they don't understand? Just take a look for yourself:

This should be unacceptable to anyone who has a modicum of decency and common sense.

1. "Irregardless" isn't a word.

2. Hear, hear!
I advocate that lawmakers at all levels start repealing old and unenforced laws, just for starters. Then they should consolidate overlapping laws. Then they should make laws that have a chance of being decipherable. Finally, those additions to bills that happen in Congress should just go away. A bill should be about one thing or one area, only. No riders.

But I do realize it's just a pipe dream, sadly.

In the meantime those who make the laws recognize the absurdity which is one reason they are more likely to break them than the rest of us. Because they think, a la Tom DeLay, "I *am* the law!"
