George H.W. wasn't around. He was just oblivious. It was Ma Barker who raised those twisted boys. Sick.

11. I Met A Gentleman Who Was Crew On The Sub That Retrieved GHWBush When He Was Shot Down; He Told Me..
Edited on Sat Jan-10-09 05:57 PM by DaLittle Kitty
That George H. W. Bush was Spat upon, had coffee thrown on him and was totally disrespected by the crew of the submarine because in their opinion he abandoned his radio operator who sat behind Bush in his TBM Avenger that was shot down. In their opinion, Bush should have made certain that his crew-mate could get out too. In the opinion of the submarine crew according to the gentleman who told me this story, George H.W. Bush ABANDONED HIS CREW-MATE in his rush to "save his own sorry ass!"

GUARANTEED TRUE ACCOUNT I am sure... I just ran into this gentleman outside of a shopping center in Zephyr Hills, Florida a couple of years ago. Never a mention of the guy Bush left to die in his airplane. That's politics I guess, kind of like fishing, " The true story is always a little different from the hype and in this case history is re-written to fool the public into believing something that is the polar opposite of the truth!

Now we are naming an aircraft carrier after this scoundrel? :puke:

Edited on Sat Jan-10-09 06:05 PM by bulloney
You know darned well that if a similar incident happened with Jimmy Carter or some other Democrat running for President who served in the military, that story would have been out in spades, much like the stories on Obama's "associations" with people from his past.

32. This Naval Veteran wants to know how a Submariner knows the circumstances.
Was the sub equipped with that newfangled periscope/telescope thingy?

I think the story is bullshit. No one on the sub could have known the circumstances under which the plane went down. Not possible, no way, no how. UNLESS the sub was running on the surface with everyone on deck witnessing the event. Submarines don't have windows, or portholes. Two of the three souls on board the aircraft perished. How does one "abandon" a crewmember when bailing out of a crippled airplane? Who would know the exact circumstances other than the aircraft's crewmembers?

Get a clue. This is almost on par with the "wet start" on board the USS Forrestal that everyone who hated John McCain wanted to believe in.

Added: I'm not a bush defender, so going there will only make you look more stupid than your subject line.

33. Naval Vet:TBM Avenger IS A TWO Seater... Shows How Much You Know! The Whole Crew...
Was On GHWB's Ass according to the 80 something gentleman Veteran Submariner crew-member of the sub that picked Bush up! The gentleman had absolutely NO reason to concoct the story as the original reason I started talking to him was completely unrelated. What 80 year-olds do you know that you know walk around making up personal historical anecdotes and telling them to strangers at every opportunity? Case Closed Bush Defender... A sthat would be the ONLY reason that anyone on THIS board would step up to defend the former CIA Director! :nuke:

28. If for nothing else
I am already grateful that Obama can speak like an intelligent adult, in cohesive, grammatically correct sentences and with a descriptive vocabulary that goes beyond "awesome". Obama can consort and interact with Heads of State and other dignitaries without embarrassing and disgracing every citizen of the U.S.A. Eight LONG years of this faux, aw-shucks-I'm-gist-a-regular-guy-who-ain't-so-good-at-fancy-speakin' (HATE those dropped "G's"), phony Texas good ol' boy (born in upper-crust, patrician Connecticut society) coupled with his tortured syntax, painfully awkward delivery and mangled words ("misunderestimated") have been more than enough. Good riddance.

taxed dollars with GHWBush? I don't understand? Why not Jimmy Carter or William J. Clinton? HOw come MOST of things are being named after Republicans ONLY?

Who makes these decisions?

25. Jimmy Carter has a Seawolf-class nuclear submarine named after him.
Which makes sense, since he was a submarine officer. GHWB's carrier makes sense, since he was a naval aviator. And those are, to the best of my knowledge, the only two ships named after living persons in the United States Navy.

I've also heard that story several times before. But I decline to "run" with it, lacking sound corroborative evidence. It's too close to that Swift-Boat journalism that we've all have come to mistrust and despise.
